Tanzania offers spectacular landscapes, unique wildlife, beautiful beaches, and iconic mountains, making it one of Africa\u2019s most popular travel destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Education remains a key challenge. While most children enrol in primary school, far fewer complete secondary education, particularly girls and children from low-income households. Early marriage and adolescent pregnancy are major drivers of school dropout among girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\t<\/div>\n\t\n\n

Tanzania has experienced economic growth in recent years, yet a significant share of the population continues to live in poverty. Nearly half of all Tanzanians lack sufficient income to meet their basic needs. At the same time, rapid population growth places increasing pressure on labour markets, making it difficult to create enough jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth face limited employment opportunities, with only a small proportion securing stable income. Adolescent girls are particularly vulnerable, facing risks such as gender-based violence, limited access to health services, and restrictive social norms that constrain their opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Climate change and food insecurity further exacerbate these challenges. A majority of households depend on agriculture, which is highly vulnerable to drought, erratic rainfall, and pests. This results in low agricultural productivity and rising food prices. Women are disproportionately affected, as they often have reduced access to land, finance, and productive resources despite their central role in food production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our approach and focus areas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of Str\u00f8mme Foundation Tanzania’s work is the belief that sustainable development starts with inclusive, quality education. We support lifelong learning opportunities, particularly for women, youth, and marginalized groups, to equip them with the skills they need to break free from poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Our income and job creation programs promote entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, focusing on traditional livelihoods and emerging opportunities within the blue and green economy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • In promoting gender equality, we ensure that women and girls have access to education, employment, and leadership opportunities, empowering them to become drivers of change in their communities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • We also integrate climate-smart practices into our initiatives, helping communities adapt to climate change while protecting the environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Additionally, we champion inclusion by ensuring that marginalised and vulnerable groups are not left behind, advocating for equal access to resources, opportunities, and platforms to amplify their voices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    For the 2024\u20132028 strategic period, we are partnering with local organizations and other private sector partners to strengthen the resilience of poor and marginalized communities in Dar es Salaam, Pwani, Arusha, and Singida regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
