Nepal<\/h1>\n\n\n

Nepal is a landlocked country situated along the southern slopes of the Himalayan mountain ranges, bordered by India to the south and China to the north. It boasts stunning landscapes and high mountain peaks, including the world\u2019s tallest mountain, Mount Everest, which rises over 8,000 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\t<\/div>\n\t\n\n

As a culturally diverse nation, Nepal is known for its resilient communities and rich heritage, featuring over 125 ethnic groups and more than 120 languages. This diversity creates a vibrant mosaic of traditions and identities that enrich its social fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discrimination against women and girls creates significant inequalities and prevents many from escaping poverty.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Nepal is gradually progressing in reducing poverty and expanding access to education and basic services. However, it continues to face major challenges, including slow job creation, a high dependence on remittances, political instability, weak infrastructure, earthquakes, and recurring climate-related disasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Stromme Foundation Nepal collaborates with local communities and government partners to tackle these issues and promote inclusive, sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our approach and focus areas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To fight poverty and enhance community resilience, our programmes in Nepal provide access to quality education, improve food security, and enhance income-generating opportunities for poor and marginalised families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We adopt a holistic, rights-based and family as a unit approach, engaging all members of the targeted families, to achieve shared goals through multiple interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These include Family Development Plans (FDPs)<\/strong>, a participatory tool that helps families identify opportunities and challenges, set goals, and develop their own solutions, and Career Development Plans (CDPs), which provide adolescents and youth with a clear roadmap for their future career pathways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, targeted households are facilitated in organising themselves into Self-Help Groups<\/strong> (SHGs), which are then linked to larger Community-Based Organizations known as Tole Bikash Santha (TBS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This community-led model enables groups to identify and fight the issues, advocate for their rights, lead their own development, and hold duty-bearers accountable. We focus on building community resilience, where caste, ethnicity, and climate vulnerability perpetuate inequality. We synergise inclusive education and economic inclusion, mainstreaming food security, mental health, gender equality, and climate action through local partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For 2024-2028<\/strong>, we are partnering with public, local, and private sector organisations to strengthen community resilience in Lumbini Province,<\/strong> specifically in Dang, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Pyuthan, and Rolpa districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
